Maidaan trailer released. After the box office success of his last film, Vikas Bahl's home invasion drama "Shaitaan," fans of Ajay Devgn can't wait to see him in a completely new avatar in "Maidaan." On the occasion of his 55th birthday, the makers unveiled the final trailer of the film, further igniting excitement among fans.
The final trailer builds on the first one, released a couple of weeks ago. It starts with Priyamani's character giving a heartfelt pep talk to her husband, Syed Abdul Rahim, portrayed by Ajay Devgn. She praises his unwavering belief that India can achieve football glory in the imminent Olympics, set in the 1950s, a time when the nation was newly independent.
The trailer showcases the challenges faced by Ajay's character as he navigates through bureaucratic hurdles, portrayed by Gajraj Rao's character, to handpick young footballers from the margins, meticulously building India's underdog team, player by player. However, their journey is not without its share of challenges, as they not only face formidable competition in the stadium but also the opposition from the crowd and protesters outside, demanding India to “go back.”
Speaking about the film and his character of Syed Abdul Rahim, Ajay expressed, “Apart from being a great story, I never knew that something like that had happened in our country, and football had reached its peak, all because of, I can't say one man, but one man and these players who changed the course of football in the ‘50s and ’60s. In fact, I was shocked and surprised this would have happened, and there is a person like him, and that was the first thing that this story needs to be told.”
"Maidaan" also features Bengali actor Rudrani Ghosh in a pivotal role. Produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Arunava Joy Sengupta, and Akash Chawla, the screenplay and dialogues are penned by Saiwyn Quadras and Ritesh Shah, respectively. The music is composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics by Manoj Muntashir Shukla.
The film is all set to hit theatres on April 10, promising an inspiring and captivating cinematic experience. It will clash at the box office with "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan," adding to the excitement of movie buffs.
