Malayalam film industry is going great guns with back-to-back blockbusters. After romantic comedy, 'Premalu', the latest blockbuster from Mollywood, 'Manjummel Boys' is creating havoc at the boxoffice. Manjummel Boys, starring Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi and Balu Varghese, released in theatres on February 22. The film was opened with a terrific response. It keeps growing with each day which reflected in its boxoffice numbers.
Surprisingly, the film received rousing response from Tamil Nadu. It became huge hit in the state emerging as the first Malayalam film to cross Rs 15 Crores mark in Tamil Nadu. Another record from Manjummel Boys is it emerged as the first Malayalam film to record a double-digit collection day at the Indian box office. It earned Rs 11.25 crore on its second Sunday.
Ever since its release, the film has amassed a total of Rs 60+ crores at the Indian box office. It collected Rs 40+ Crores from overseas taking its total to Rs 100+ Crores globally. It is only the fourth Malayalam film to cross Rs 100 Crore mark after Pulimurugan, Lucifer, and the 2018 movie. At this trend, the film is also eyeing a 150 crore milestone.
Manjummel Boys is a survival drama, based on actual events at the infamous ‘Guna Caves’ (Where Kamala Haasan's Guna film was shot) in Kodaikanal, tells the story of a group of friends stuck inside the cave without help.
