Red Bull has announced the return of the 'Soapbox Race' to India after an eight-year hiatus. Scheduled for March 3, 2024, in Hyderabad, this will be the third edition of the event in India. The Red Bull Soapbox Race features amateur pilots competing with hand-made, non-motorized vehicles judged for their aesthetic, speed, and road-holding capabilities.
Originating in Brussels, Belgium, in 2000, the Soapbox Race has been held in over 52 countries, including Spain, Italy, UK, USA, France, and Germany. Over the years, the race has seen a wide range of creative designs, from The Joker to Donald Trump-themed vehicles.
The upcoming event in Hyderabad promises to be bigger and better than before, with the race starting at 3 PM at Ramanaidu Studios and ending at 5 PM. Previous editions in 2012 and 2016 in Mumbai featured creatively designed vehicles that garnered much attention.
Actor Rana Daggubati has promoted the event with an exciting video, inviting fans to witness the "craziest non-motor race yet" at Ramanaidu Studios on March 3, 2024.
Participants are encouraged to unleash their imagination and creativity in designing their soapbox cars. To qualify, teams must ensure that their vehicles have fully functioning brakes and steering, demonstrate creative design, and aim to finish the race in the fastest time possible.
Those interested in participating can apply online on Red Bull India's official website. Applicants are required to submit a sketch of their unique concept, with the most innovative ideas earning a spot on the starting grid and receiving a participation kit. With the exclusive Red Bull Soapbox Race driver’s license and participation kit in hand, participants can begin turning their soapbox car dreams into reality.
