Simbu : Multi-talented Charmer

Silambarasan TR aka Simbu aka STR, is widely popular in south cinema. This multifaceted charming Star Hero - acts, writes, directs, sings, and whatnot can perform key roles in filmmaking. And he does those with panache. The young actor always strives hard to make a difference through his films. His recent Maanaadu stands as a testament to his hunger in delivering unique content.

Though he came from film background as his father T Rajender is a popular Director, actor, Simbu made a name for himself with his peculiar style and energy. Most people think of Simbu's debut into the industry was T.Rajendar's Kadhal Azhivathillai. However, it was the first movie where the actor picked a lead role but not the first movie of his career. He worked as a child artist in Uravai Kaatha Kili in 1984. The film was helmed by his father thus acting was always in his roots.

After a half a dozen films in his career, Simbu shot to fame with Blockbuster Manmadhan / Manmadha, co-starring with Jyothika for the first time, and the film became a turning point in his career. He also provided story, screenplay for the film. His next, starred and directed Vallavan / Vallabha as well as writing its story, screenplay and co-dialogue co-starring Nayanthara and Reema Sen also created sensation with its openings. After a brief setback he is back to success with Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya co-starring Trisha in Gautam Menon's direction which turned out to be a modern cult love story. 

Simbu faced tough period for the next few years and began selecting scripts matching him after getting fit with tough workouts. His role in Mani Ratnam's successful Chekka Chivantha Vaanam / Nawab, Venkat Prabhu's Maanaadu, Paathu Thala, Gautam Menon's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu / Life Of Muthu earned him fame and success. His next film bankrolled by Kamal Hassan's Raaj Kamal Films International, was announced with a working title of STR 48.

Apart from enjoying a rather successful career as an actor, Simbu has also garnered love from fans with his singing and songwriting skills. He has lent his voice for many of his films, giving us another reason to be convinced enough that he is an all-rounder.
