Vijay Floats New Political Party Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam

For the past one year, Thalapathy Vijay's political entry has been widely discussed topic in Tamil Nadu and in South states. Vijay is currently at the peak of his film career. Even his average films are collecting record numbers at the boxoffice. He enjoys super stardom at the moment. While many think that he still has 10 years of star career in films, Vijay thinks otherwise, he sees this immense stardom as the right opportunity to come into the power working for the welfare of the people, his ultimate goal.

Tamil film actor Vijay on Friday announced floating of a new political outfit named Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam. In an official statement, Vijay said the outfit has been registered with the ECI. “I humbly wish to state that the party’s general council and executive committee have decided neither to contest nor to extend support to any party in the general elections 2024.”

He said the party’s objective is to contest and win the 2026 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu to provide the political change for the people. Vijay's foray into politics will mark another high-profile entry in Tamil Nadu politics from cinema after the likes of Kamal Haasan, MG Ramachandran, Sivaji Ganesan, etc.

Vijay has taken the plunge in politics as the structure of the party is ready. According to a official report, 200 members of the party's general council attended a meeting before registration and people are also being appointed to crucial positions like the members of the Central Executive Committee.
