This got further escalated when Rajini told 'Crow - Eagle' story at his 'Jailer' movie audio launch last year. Rajinikanth shared a story about a crow and eagle and how they survive in the world. Soon after the speech, Rajinikanth and Vijay's fans were at loggerheads on social media, claiming that Thalaivar spoke about Thalapathy.

Rajinikanth at the 'Lal Salaam' audio launch in Chennai on January 26, Thalaivar cleared the air saying that 'crow-eagle' story he shared at the 'Jailer' audio launch was not directed at Thalapathy Vijay. Rajinikanth, at 'Lal Salaam' event, said, "The story of a crow and eagle was interpreted differently. On social media, many spread rumours saying it was against Vijay. It's so disappointing. Vijay grew up in front of my eyes. Vijay then became an actor, and now he's at the top because of his discipline, hard work and talent. He is going to politics next. It feels sad to hear that there's competition between us. I am always his well wisher but not competitor."

Rajinikanth will be seen next in his daughter Aishwarya's upcoming film, 'Lal Salaam', which will release in theatres on February 9. He is presently shooting for director TJ Gnanavel's 'Vettaiyan', which is likely to hit cinemas this year. He also has director Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Thalaivar 171'. Vijay is presently shooting for director Venkat Prabhu's 'GOAT'.
