Nandamuri Kalyanram tried to repeat the success he has scored last year with 'Bimbisara' with 'Devil' this year. 'Devil' hit the screens globally yesterday, December 29. The film which has been made as a period spy thriller has grabbed the attention for its intriguing promotional content. The trailer has piqued the interest among the audience. In addition to these, there is a perception among the audience that Kalyanram's films have something fresh to offer.
All these factors helped 'Devil' to fetch buzz before it's release. But, the film opened with low occupancy especially at B,C centers and considerably well at A and Multiplexes. The film managed to get positive reviews and talk from the morning shows. This has increased the occupancies all-over for the rest of the day.
Devil First Day Collections
Devil has managed to collect close to Rs 5 Crores gross worldwide on its first day. Well, this is much lower when it compared to Kalyanram's previous hit, 'Bimbisara' which has collected Rs 11+ Crores on its first day. The major drawback for Devil happened at Overseas where due to confusion in giving the release date, several shows were not scheduled resulting in low number of shows.
Another aspect is as Salaar is still occupying large number of Theatres, Devil is unable to get maximum release. But, with good word of mouth, trade is expecting to witness rise in box office numbers for this new year weekend. 'Devil' did a business of Rs 20 Crores and need to gross Rs 35+ Crores to attain Hit status.
