Sandeep on Ranbir controversial dialogue in Animal. The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer, Animal, has been making waves for various reasons since its release. While the film is enjoying success at the box office, it has faced criticism for allegedly glorifying misogyny and toxic masculinity. In a recent interview, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga addressed a controversial dialogue where Ranbir Kapoor's character, Ranvijay, tells Rashmika Mandanna's character, Gitanjani, that she has a 'big pelvis.' Despite the shock it elicited from the audience, Vanga defended the dialogue, stating that it was intended as a compliment rather than something 'ugly.'

Speaking to Galatta Plus, Vanga explained that the 'big pelvis' dialogue was used because Ranvijay's character couldn't express his emotions directly to Gitanjani. On her engagement day, with the two not being in touch, Ranvijay attempts a unique approach to convey his feelings. Vanga argued that the dialogue serves a purpose related to the character and the film's title, ensuring that the audience understands the underlying theory being discussed.

Discussing how he arrived at the controversial scene, Vanga disclosed his original idea of having Ranvijay play with flower petals and touch Gitanjani's feet. However, on the shoot day, he decided against it to create a more surprising impact. Vanga explained that Ranvijay felt Gitanjani slipping away, and in his desperation to express his desire for a future together, he fumbles with his words. The director conveyed to Ranbir Kapoor that Ranvijay's intention was to express a commitment to a future together, leading to the seemingly unconventional compliment about Gitanjani's pelvis.

Vanga emphasized that he viewed the dialogue as a compliment, expressing surprise at how some found it 'ugly.' Animal, released on December 1, explores the complexities of a toxic father-son relationship, portraying Vijay (played by Ranbir) as an anti-hero willing to go to extremes to protect his emotionally distant father (played by Anil Kapoor). Despite controversies, the film has surpassed the Rs 500 crore mark at the Indian box office.
