Wamiqa Gabbi claims she is part of Baahubali. In a recent interview, Wamiqa Gabbi shed light on her initial involvement in a project related to 'Baahubali,' sparking confusion among fans of the Prabhas-led blockbuster. However, it appears that the 'Khufiya' actor was referring to the Netflix venture titled 'Baahubali: Before The Beginning.'
Recognized as a monumental achievement in Indian cinema, SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali' franchise, with its first installment 'Baahubali: The Beginning' released in 2015, featured Prabhas in the iconic titular role. The ensemble cast included Rana Daggubati, Ramya Krishnan, and Tamannaah Bhatia in pivotal roles.
Wamiqa Gabbi's recent statement, as shared with Filmi Gyan, revealed that she was initially training for 'Baahubali,' but the project encountered obstacles and was eventually shelved. She expressed, "I was doing it ('Baahubali'). Directors kept changing. And I was still there training (in sword fight). I kept asking if the director had been finalized. I don’t know why they shut down the project, I hope it restarts again."
Clarifying the confusion, it is likely that Wamiqa Gabbi meant she was initially associated with the Netflix project, 'Baahubali: Before The Beginning,' a prequel that delves into the backstory of 'Baahubali: The Beginning.' The series aimed to spotlight the character of Sivagami, portrayed by Ramya Krishnan, and it was reported that Mrunal Thakur was also cast in a significant role. Directors Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru were initially slated to helm the prequel in 2018.
