Suriya Role In Purananooru Directed By Sudha Kongara

Suriya's 43rd film is titled as Purananooru, co-starring, Dulquer Salmaan, Nazriya and Vijay Varma. The official announcement was made in October along with title reveal. Director Sudha Kongara collaborated with Suriya after National award Winning Soorarai Pottru. Suriya 43 is all set to kick off its first schedule from January 2023 at Madurai American College. 

Purananooru is touted to be a political thriller with a twist. According to reports, Suriya will be playing the role of a college student and a politician. The college student part will have an angle of students entering into politics and fighting for their rights. The student politics angle was revealed in the announcement video itself.

Suriya played similar role in Maniratnam directorial Yuva in 2004 where he played the role of student leader Michael who enters into politics. Though there are similarities in roles, Purananooru doesn't have any connection with the story of Yuva.

Suriya will be undergoing intense weight loss for that portion to look convincing as a young student. 

The movie also boasts of a stellar cast, with Dulquer Salmaan playing Suriya’s rival, Nazriya playing Suriya’s love interest and Vijay Varma playing a key role. Produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment in collaboration with Meenakshi Cinemas, the film's music will be provided by GV Prakash, marking his remarkable 100th venture as a music composer.
