Jigarthanda Double X reimagined with Rajini and Kamal . Karthik Subbaraj, much like many of his fans, has been profoundly influenced by the cinematic legacies of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, the two stalwarts of Tamil cinema. In a remarkable revelation, he has expressed his fervent wish to cast both these iconic actors in the dream rendition of his upcoming period action comedy, "Jigarthanda Double X."
Taking to the X (formerly Twitter) platform on Wednesday, Karthik unveiled a creatively morphed poster of "Jigarthanda Double X," featuring Rajinikanth's visage superimposed on Raghava Lawrence's, and Kamal Haasan's face replacing SJ Suryah's.
Accompanying the poster, he wrote in the caption, "I often shared with my assistant director team the dream that if I had been born in an earlier era, I would have crafted #JigarthandaDoubleX with Thalaivar and UlagaNayagan. To my surprise, my associate director @mahesbalu17 took that dream seriously (with a hug and a red heart emoji). #DoubleXDiwali in just 2 days."
Notably, Karthik Subbaraj has previously directed Rajinikanth in "Petta" (2019). "Jigarthanda Double X" is a period piece set in 1975, with the trailer showcasing Raghava as a gangster seeking to challenge conventional perceptions of skin color prevalent in Tamil cinema. SJ Suryah assumes the role of a director in the film, who, as a former assistant to Satyajit Ray, aspires to create a movie featuring Lawrence's character. This intriguing project has ignited anticipation among cinephiles for its unique storytelling and the potential collaboration between the two iconic actors.
