Atlee - Varun Dhawan film release postponed

Atlee who has been delivering continuous blockbusters has recently debuted in Bollywood and scored a huge blockbuster 'Jawan' with Shahrukh Khan. It is known that Atlee is making his next Bollywood film with Varun Dhawan in the lead. However, VD18 is not Atlee's directorial. He is producing the film while Kalees is directing it. 

The film was initially scheduled to release on 31st May next year is now pushed to a later date. But, the film will hit the screens in next year only. Varun is doing the role of a cop, as a DCP for the first time in his career. The film is an intense action drama mounted on a large scale. 

VD18 features Keerthy Suresh which marks her Bollywood debut along with Sanya Malhotra and Wamiqa Gabbi in key roles. Reports suggest that it is a remake of Tamil blockbuster Theri headlined by Vijay directed by Atlee himself.

This would be Atlee's third production. Earlier Atlee produced Sangili Bungili Kadhava Thorae in 2017 and Andhagaaram in 2020 which is directly released on Netflix. VD18 is his third project as a producer.
