Sailesh Kolanu is the new gen filmmakers who showed promise with his talent. He has proved himself with intriguing thrillers and making them with finesse. Sailesh was born and raised in Chennai. His father, Seshagiri Rao Kolanu, used to worked as a production manager for Pratap Art Productions and then late filmmaker, Kodi Ramakrishna. He graduated from BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus. He further pursued his PhD, in optometry, from the University of New South Wales, before pursuing a career as a filmmaker.

Sailesh started his career with a short film as a part of 50 hour film making challenge contest. He made his debut as a director with HIT : The First Case starring Vishwak Sen. It is being made as a whodunnit thriller and scored a superhit. He made HIT forming a Homicide Intervention Team in the film and announced a sequel at the end of the First Case hinting about a franchise.

Sailesh made HIT : The First Case with the same name in Hindi too with Rajkumar Rao. He later returned to Tollywood with the second part in HIT franchise, HIT: The Second Case was made with Adivi Sesh as lead. This too dealt with a serial killer and score much bigger hit than the first part. Sailesh also revealed that HIT will be made as HITverse with multiple characters crossing paths in future films.

He announced HIT: The Third Case with its producer Nani as the lead. Now, Sailesh is busy in crafting Saindhav starring Venkatesh. This also marks landmark 75th film of Venkatesh which is being made as a high voltage actioner set in an imaginary town of Indraprastha. The teaser of Saindhav has created huge buzz for its large canvas with Venkatesh in ferocious character. Saindhav is slated to release on 13th January.
