Santosh Sobhan who is making waves with interesting and light-hearted entertainers is coming to entertain movie lovers with his film interestingly titled Like Share and Subscribe. The presence of Fiara Abdullah as the female lead and known actors like Brahmaji, Saptagiri, and Sudarshan with Merlapaka Gandhi being the director is increasing expectations. The film's OTT partner is yet to be finalized and will be done soon and streaming will be after its theatrical run. Let us see how Santosh Sobhan entertained with Like Share and Subscribe on November 4.
Like Share and Subscribe story revolves around a travel vlogger and the happenings in the lives of two travel bloggers. Viplav (Santosh Sobhan) aspires to become a great travel vlogger and to realize his dream he goes to Araku along with cameraman Daniel (Sudarshan). He happens to meet Delhi-based vlogger Vasudha Varma (Fiara Abdullah) and after initial altercations, they happen to travel together. However the trio land in a problem and how they dealt with it, how they are connected to DGP Narendra (Adukalem Naren), CI Govind (Dayanand Reddy), Gopanna (Mime Gopi),Brahmanna (Brahmaji), and others from the crux of the story.
Like Share and Subscribe story written by Merlapaka Gandhi generates interest as no films came with the backdrop of a travel vlogger. But there ends the interest. Within minutes after the start, redundancy creeps in. Everything turns out to be routine and Merlapaka Gandhi seems to have shown interest only in including a few hilarious scenes instead of concentrating on the story, screenplay, and direction. Gandhi came up with the silliest script and from then on it is an endless torture to the viewers.
The way he tried to balance youtube vlogging and Naxal moment that too in the 90s smacks of logic. Everything goes for a toss and there is not a single scene that excites viewers. Lack of real twists and thrills and real conflict puts off the viewers. Though Merlapaka Gandhi came up with an interesting idea, he failed to generate the required entertainment quotient out of it.
Santosh Sobhan performed well in the role tailormade for him. He effortlessly came with expressions as an innocent guy, falling in love and then trying to save. He showed good improvement in his dialogue delivery and mannerisms and he showed good ease. However, it seems he is getting monotonous in his roles and performances. Fiara Abdullah did her best to entertain viewers. She looked innocent and cute and impressed with her dialogue delivery. Brahmaji with his antics evoked a few laughs. Others like Mime Gopi, Adulakem Naren,Raghu Babu,Mirchi Kiran, and Dayanand Reddy performed according to their roles.
Praveen Lakkaraju and Ram Miryala's music and BGM is just ok. The cinematography of A. Vasanth is good and showed the Araku and other locations quite well. The editing of Ramu Tumu could have been better but he couldn't be faulted as the story itself is weak.
Altogether, Merlapaka Gandhi is known for his hilarious entertainers and when Santosh Sobhan teamed with him and the film titled in a unique way as Like Share and Subscribe, everyone expected a laughing riot. However all their dreams came down crashing and they came out utterly disappointed as Gandhi instead of creating a laughing riot, ended up creating a run riot out of the theatres. He failed with his story, screenplay, and direction, and wonders how long the directors and the actors try to fool people by promising a fun fest and instead end up giving a torture fest. Merlapaka Gandhi should have concentrated on his story and screenplay before proceeding ahead with the project as he tried to fool people just by including a few funny scenes trying inspiration from Jabardasth shows. If the makers think that they can draw people to theatres with Jabardasth skits and scripts, then they are mistaken as people are used to watching them on small screens and not on a big screen. Altogether Like Share and Subscribeends up as the most silliest and senseless film. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 1.2 rating for Like Share, and Subscribe.
