Remo Review, What’s Behind: Siva Karthikeyan’s Tamil blockbuster with same title is releasing today in Telugu through Dil Raju’s distribution house. Beautiful Keerthy Suresh as heroine, this dubbed flick is monstrously promoted in Telugu states. Let us see, how great this ‘Remo’ demonstrated his romantic side?

Remo Story: SK (Siva Karthikeyan), a stage artist and aspiring film actor faces rejection from a star director. Meanwhile, he falls in love with Dr Kavya (Keerthy Suresh) but gets upset when she gets engaged to other person. Donning the disguise of a nurse named Regina Cassandra, now SK enters into Kavya’s life to win his love. How SK succeeds in breaking Kavya’s engagement with support of friends and his mother (Saranya Ponnavan) is the rest.

Remo Artists and Technicians: As a basic storyline, ‘Remo’ is beaten to death formula on a smart hero winning heroine by breaking her engagement. However, Bakkiyaraj Kannan’s smart execution with vibrant technical standards made it an entertaining romantic comedy. The way SK changes his avatar into a superb looking nurse is perfectly handled. Without having a strong story element, Bakkiyaraj Kannan’s screenplay kept us entertained despite few boring episodes present here and there in a lengthy runtime of nearly 163 minutes. Such wafer thin stories require authentic chemistry between lead artists. Director Bakkiyaraj Kannan succeeded to ooze freshness with the beautiful lead pair. Cinematographer PC Sreeram’s color schema drives us into a romantic mood and every frame is brightly, brilliantly captured. Dialogues by Rajesh sent audience into instant chuckles, thanks to flexibility in protagonist. Ruben’s editing could have chopped some lengthy portions (like hospital fight scene, climax). Anirudh’s song compositions are forgettable while RR is worth a pat. Production standards from RD Raja are top notch and best asset of the film.

Onto performances, Shiva Karthikeyan is sure to steal our hearts. All those Telugu audience who haven’t watched his full length Tamil movies till date will be impressed big time with his charm. Positive body language and simple mannerisms create a huge impact. His attractive make over as nurse although inspired from Bhamane Sathyabhamane; probably makeup is superior here. He dances well, times the comic dialogues well and all in all registers a new feel good image of own. Keerthy Suresh is beautiful at looks in this innocently confused girl character. Saranya Ponnavan presence made some scenes little more hilarious. Remo’s friend characters did their part well.

Remo Rating Analysis: Remo is a romantic comedy with regular elements. A film low on content can become safe when artists with strong stature slip into lead roles. Remo is lucky because Siva Karthikeyan and Keerthy Suresh played their part so well making this cinema viewing experience a pleasant one. Apparently, major problems lied in all those episodes meant to confuse and manipulate the heroine’s thinking from an arranged marriage to love marriage. Keerthy almost becomes spineless during these portions. Technical grandeur although tried its best to mask these pitfalls, shallowness in story was obviously visible.

Establishment of lead roles in the first half went on breezily. Turning of SK into sister Regina Motwani and following scenes keep us smiling. Although observed to be cinematic, time passes on without much discomfort. Missing of strong conflict kept the screenplay wide and open with nothing much to guess. Except the charm in hero, heroine; interval block is also so simple.

Into second half, Remo becomes tedious taking a known path. Keerthy getting attracted towards Remo is a gaffe without proper explanation, that’s where lacking of substance is more exposed. Towards pre climax and climax, there is an unnecessary extension better avoided.

Finally, Remo is a youthful romantic flick made on high technical, production standards with target audience in same age group. If you aren’t familiar with Siva Karthikeyan, the impact can be far good and so is Keerthy Suresh. Cinejosh rates Remo with 2.5 stars waiting for actual commercial verdict.
