Saptagiri known for his hilarious acts as a star comedian, has been trying his best to score a hit as a solo hero and establish himself as the antagonist in Tollywood. His upcoming film in lead role Pelli Kaani Prasad is releasing on 21 March 2025. Pelli Kaani Prasad's OTT rights are yet to be finalised and the makers will inform at the later date. Let us find out whether Saptagiri entertained viewers or not.
Pelli Kaani Prasad's story is about a man who is unable to realise his dream of getting married and the developments in his life, when he gets caught between his father's greed and his traditional marriage ambition.
Prasad (Saptagiri) remains unmarried due to various reasons and his father (Muralidhar Goud)'s condition becomes a stumbling block. What decision he takes and how it is related to a beautiful girl Priya (Priyanka Sharma) form the rest of the narration.
Saptagiri slipped into the role effortlessly. These kinds of roles are tailor made for him. He managed to entertain movie lovers with his antics.
Priyanka Sharma is good in some scenes. But in other scenes she looked odd and out of sync.
Muralidhar Goud is good in the role of Saptagiri's father. Others like Annapurnama, Vadlamani srinivas, Pramodini, Basha, Laxman meesala, Rohini, Ramprasad performed according to their roles.
Pelli Kaani Prasad story is penned by Abhilash Reddy Gopidi. He came up with a story highlighting the ordeals of the person who remains unmarried. Many such films came earlier and director planned to show it in a novel way as it is always the burning topic. The story offered nothing new and he tried to entertain viewers with the hilarious scenes.
Though some scenes may evoke laughter, but most of them turned out to be silly, outdated and over the top. The start of the story with heroine landing in India for marriage turned out to be predictable and lacked the freshness.. He used Khushi scene and Arjun Reddy scene and the first half ends on a monotonous note making viewers wait expectantly for the second half. After few scenes in the first half, director lacked ideas on how to take the story forward.
The second half scenes are even more dragged and ended up testing the patience of the viewers. All the so called comedy scenes looked forced and the climax did not work. He should have worked on the climax to lessen the damage. Screenplay did not have anything substantial to offer.
The music of Sekhar Chandra is good to some extent. However he failed to elevate scenes with his background music. Sujatha Siddharth's cinematography is good. The cinematography turned the film colorful but it is just ok. Editing of Madhu could have been far better. Production values are ok.
Altogether. Pelli Kaani Prasad is just for few laughs. Director Abhilash Reddy Gopidi concentrated only on showing and elevating Saptagiri's performance in hilarious scenes and completely ignored the story. The film is loaded with predictable hilarious scenes and a weak story. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 1.5 rating for Pelli Kaani Prasad.
