Milly Beauty Tamannaah of late is selecting scripts in a careful manner. After moving away from Tollywood, she sparkled in special songs in Bollywood and also in few webseries. Her starrer Odela2 is releasing on 17 April 2025. Expectations are high as the film is the sequel to the hit film Odela Railway Station and is directed by Ashok Teja. Odela2 OTT rights have been acquired for a fancy sum by Amazon Prime. Let us find out what Odela2 which is releasing at pan India level offered to movie lovers.
Odela 2 story revolves around the happenings in the remote village Odela after the villagers take a shocking decision regarding the dangerous and dreaded criminal.
Villagers of Odela take a shocking decision regarding the psycho criminal, Tirupati (Vassishta Simha), after consulting the priest (Srikanth Iyengar).
Where this leads to and what role Bhairavi aka Shiva Shakthi (Tamannaah) played, and how it is connected to Allah Bhikshu ( Murali Sharma), Radha (Hebah Patel), ACP (Sharath Lohithaswa), CI Lakshman, and others form rest of the developments.
Tamannaah made her presence felt with her impactful performance. She takes the film to another level with her entry and maintains the same tempo through out the second half. Her body langauge, mannerisms and dialogue delivery and expressions are good. She makes an impression delivering dialogues with devotional touch in a ferocious manner at times and emotionally to appeal to all.
Vasishta N Simha is menacing in the role of the villian. He came up with good mannerisms, body language and expressions. He makes good impact with his powerful dialogue delivery.
Hebah Patel made her presence felt in few scenes in the second half. Murali Sharma is good, and others like Sharath Lohithaswa, Yuva, Naga Mahesh, Vamsi,Gagan Vihari,Surender Reddy,Srikanth Iyengar, Pooja Reddy,Bhupal performed according to their roles.
Odela2 story is written by Sampath Nandi is the continuation of the supernatural thriller Odela Railway Station. He provided the screenplay and story and the film is helmed by Ashok Teja.
The narration continues from where Odela Railway Station ended and it generates interest among viewers initially. But the viewers will be disappointed as they wait eagerly for Tamannaah's introduction.
After many predictable elements in form of mysterious happenings and the reaction of the villagers, as the villagers turn helpless, they turn to Tamannaah who makes her entry with a few dialogues and interesting fight.
The first half ends with the stage set for the face off between Tamannaah and Vasishta. The second half boils down to the all out conflict between the duo and what is the end result for the villagers.
While the first half highlights the fearful happenings in the village, the second half is more on how the conflict. After few scenes in which at times Tamannaah gains upper hand and Vasishta gains upper, the film reaches the climax. The second half has few interesting dialogues related to Lord Shiva but the climax is dragged after which the film ends with the lead to the third part. But the way lead to Odela 3 is given is not convincing and it could have been planned in a better way as it brings down the powers of Lord shiva.
The film's story is shown in the trailer itself and it treads in the same line. Similar such scenes were seen in films like Arundhati,Ammoru and so viewers will not get a feeling that they are watching something new. The way lusty scenes were depicted disturbs many. This is the first film in which lust takes over devotion and few dialogues also signify it. First half doesnt excite and the director took time only to set the base for the second half. After the interval bang interest levels incrrease but once again the fight between the evil and good forces turns routine. Few dialogues related to Lord Shiva and the dialogues between Tamannaah and Vasishta are good. Lord Shiva entry is good but it could have made in a more visually appealing manner.
The songs tuned by Ajaneesh Loknath are situational and are ok. He elevated few scenes with his background music.
Soundar Rajan. S' Cinematography showed the scenes in a natural manner. He showed Odela village showing rural and rustic elements quite well. The VFX shots are good for a low budget film like this.
Avinash's editing is ok and could have been better as there are few scenes that slowed the pace of the film. Production values are good.
Altogether, Odela2 turns out to be decent supernatural thriller. Everyone is aware that though Ashok Teja helmed the project, it is Sampath Nandi who was the soul of the project. He came up with a story with supernatural elements and showed Tamannaah in a completely different role which she never did in her career earlier. Viewers who love films in this genre will like the film a lot.
Odela2 directed by Ashok Teja after an initial interesting start fizzles out with routine and monotonous elements. Tamannaah elevated the scenes with her performance and Vasishta N Simha complimented her. However routine story, a predictable screenplay and a Lack of thrilling elements married the final output. Little finetuning of the script and racy screenplay would have added punch to the final impact. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2.5 rating for Odela2.
