Star Cricketer, Captain Cool MS.Dhoni who hit many sixes in his cricket career turned producer and planned to score a hit at the box office. His film LGM (Let's Get Married) increased immense expectations ever since the project was announced. He decided to film Tamil as Tamil Tambis showered their love on him as Thala for powering CSK to five titles in IPL. LGM's OTT rights are yet to be finalised and the streaming will be after the end of its theatrical run. Let us find out whether Dhoni hit a six with LGM.
LGM story is about a young couple and how their relations get affected by their near and dear ones and how they overcome the obstacles in their journey. Gautham (Harish Kalyan)'s mother Leela (Nadiya) tries her son get married invian. But after two years, one fine day he shows her the snap of his colleague Meera (Ivana) and surprises saying both have been in love. But when they try to take their relationship to next level, Meera comes with a stunning condition.
Where this leads to and how the family members of Meera and how the colleagues of Gautham and Meera get involved in it and what role driver Mahi (Yogi Babu) played form the rest of the story.
Harish Kalyan tried his best to get the right expressions. However, he failed to show the basic emotions. He looked stone-faced just staring at the camera. Ivana who shot to fame with her performance in Love Today, looked good on screen but surprised all with her performance. She failed to elevate the scenes with her performance. Nadiya played the role of a typical mother and she just passed the motions. At times, she went overboard and also looked odd on the screen. Yogi Babu worked hard to save the sinking film with his comedy but with everything falling apart, nothing clicked. Others got forgettable roles in the film.
Let's Get Married (LGM) story is about youngsters in love, the progress of their relationship, and how they deal with vis a vis their family members. Ramesh Tamilmani came up with an interesting idea but there ends the matter. Right from the start till the finish, he ended up giving torture to the viewers.
While viewers out of love for Dhoni waited expectantly for the improvement of things, situation turned from bad to worse. The first half ends after testing the patience of all and then start the torture in the second half. Silly scenes, dialogues, and pathetic performances shock all.
Ramesh Tamilmani did not develop his idea and went to the sets and started shooting what ever he could think of and it is reflected on the screen. Ramesh's story turned out to be weak, screenplay and direction worse. After failing personally on all fronts, he failed to get the minimum performances from the cast and crew. When the film ends, viewers thank their stars.
Ramesh Tamilmani who also handed the music failed completely. None of the songs are appealing. They in fact irritated the viewers. He seems to have forgotten that songs play a key role in the success of a love story. There is nothing to talk about the BGM. It in fact made viewers to sleep throughout the film.
Viswajith's cinematography is just getting grace marks. Even a novice could have done the same job. The editing of Pradeep E Raghav disappointed all. But had he chopped off scenes mercilessly there would have been any film except the central point. Prodution values are ok.
Altogether, LGM (Let's Get Married) is a silly and ridiculous flick. Ramesh Tamilmani failed on all fronts, be it story, screenplay and direction and drowned Dhoni belying the trust he placed on him. He should have worked twice on the story, cross checked it before proceeding further. The less we talk about the screenplay and the script, the better it is. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 1 Rating for LGM.
