Vishwak Sen's Laila (2025): What's Behind

Vishwak Sen returns to theaters with "Laila", teaming up with debutant director Ram Narayan, known for his direct-to-digital release, "Battala Ramaswamy Biopikku."  The film garnered initial attention with Vishwak Sen's cross-dressing, but pre-release controversies involving Prudhviraj's comments overshadowed the buzz. This project marks a crucial point in Vishwak Sen's career as he is reeling in a dull phase. Can he break his streak, and can Ram Narayan deliver a successful theatrical debut?

Laila (2025) Telugu Movie: Story Review

Sonu Model (Vishwak Sen) runs a popular beauty parlor in Hyderabad's Old City. When he tries to help a customer and her family by lending his name to their cooking oil business, he unwittingly gets into trouble. The story explores the circumstances that lead Sonu, a man, to transform into Laila, a woman, and the consequences that follow.

Laila (2025) Movie: Artists Review

Vishwak Sen's dedication to portraying Laila is commendable, but the poorly written role limits his potential.  He has the potential to pull off any role by himself and he tried his best in the Laila role but it is the writing played main villain for this film. Akanksha Sharma's performance is subpar, marked by excessive skin show rather than acting prowess.

Abhimanyu Singh delivers a decent performance and manages a few humorous moments.  Babloo Prithiveeraj and Vineet Kumar, as Chiranjeevi fans, are loud and irritating. Kamakshi Bhaskarla is adequate in her role. Social media sensation Sunishith's attempt at comedy falls flat, as does Prudhviraj's, despite his comedic reputation.

Laila (2025) Movie: Technicians Review

Vishwak Sen, who initially showed promise with films like "Falaknuma Das" and "HIT," seems to have lost his way in recent projects. "Laila" continues this downward trend, demonstrating a lack of sound judgment in script selection. Director Ram Narayan failed to present fresh ideas and the film suffers from an outdated and over-the-top approach to comedy. The romantic track between Vishwak Sen and Akanksha Sharma is poorly written and relies heavily on skin show. Experienced actors are wasted in ill-defined and un impactful roles.

The film's excessive length, filled with unnecessary fights and songs, suggests a lack of focus and creative bankruptcy. The attempt to generate humor using Hyderabad's Old City slang falls flat due to the overuse of double entendres.  Vishwak Sen's portrayal of Laila, intended for comedic effect, comes across as crude and tasteless. "Laila" is a forgettable and disappointing outing for Vishwak Sen and his team. It's a film best avoided in theaters and perhaps considered only as a last resort when all other viewing options are exhausted.

Leon James's music is a letdown, with none of the songs making an impact.  The background score is unremarkable. Richard Prasad's cinematography and Sagar Dadi's editing are decent but not exceptional. The writing by Vasudeva Murthy and direction by Ram Narayan are the film's biggest weaknesses. The production values by Shine Screens are commendable, particularly the Old City set, showcasing the producer's investment.

Laila (2025) Movie: Advantages

  • Vishwak Sen
  • A Couple Of Comedy Scenes
  • Production Design

Laila (2025) Movie: Disadvantages

  • Weak Writing and Direction
  • Crude Comedy
  • Poor Music

Laila (2025): Rating Analysis

Altogether, Vishwak Sen tried his best, it is due to the poorly written plot, characters, and comedy that makes Laila a missed opportunity. Though A few comedic sequences provide fleeting amusement. The script is riddled with clichés and lacks originality. The Below-the-belt humor and double entendres are further made the film more tough to sit through. Considering all these, CineJosh is going with 1.5 Rating.
