Behind the Movie Kedi: Handsome Nagarjuna has paired up again with his best buddy Shivaprasad Reddy for this ‘Kedi’ which even has hot and sensuous Mamtha Mohandas. Rated as a stylish flick from debutant Director Kiran, ‘Kedi’ has been released with good hopes after the dim performance of all the movies released in 2010. Let us see, how this ‘Kedi’ performed.

In the Movie Kedi: A boy named Ramesh aka Rummy unable to bear his careless father (Tanikella Bharani) runs away from home. Rummy is in love with his childhood friend Janaki, who is afraid of their parents tell Rummy to go and earn money to win her heart. Rummy soon enters into the field of gambling with his childhood friends and grows up as younger Rummy (Nagarjuna) with his friends (Harshavardhan and Brahmanandam).

Rummy’s business is to loot the money from rich and smugglers by fooling them and enjoy the life with principle ‘Live for the Day.’ To track down Rummy is the ACP Shekhar Ramishetty (Sayaji Shinde). To get away from this normal life, Rummy lands in Goa where he joins hands with Chandra (Ankur Vikal), a smuggler. Rummy works for Chandra on part time basis earning the needful money and then enjoying. Rummy even saves one of the foreigner Linda (Nadia) and her sister Sara (Poula) from the hands of a small time villain Viktor (Kelly Dorjee) in Goa. When Linda expresses her love, Rummy rejects it for his childhood love Janaki.

At this point, Sandhya (Mamatha Mohandas) enters his life with her kid becoming the member of Rummy’s gang. Rummy accepts a deal with Chandra to smuggle a bag containing RDX which ultimately should reach terrorists in Hyderabad who have planned a bomb blast on Republic day. Unfortunately this RDX bag reaches the blatant communal ‘Jihadi’ forces of Pakistan in Hyderabad and Rummy is arrested by ACP Shekhar.

Now, Rummy’s task is to save the city from terrorists and win the love of his childhood buddy Janaki who is none other than Sandhya, who was cheated by villain Chandra. Did this Kedi save the city from terrorists and RDX? Did he win the love of widow Janaki? is climax.

Values of the Movie Kedi: Nagarjuna is alone the strength of entire movie. One can easily recognize Nagarjuna as more handsome than his earlier movies in ‘Kedi’. His stylish hair, superb costumes, fresh look have given a new feel to ‘Kedi’. Mamatha Mohandas falls below the expectations with no glamour show in this stylish flick. Nothing significant even performance wise. After Nagarjuna, best of this ‘Kedi’ lot is villain Ankur Vikal. From Bollywood background and even with no lip sync, Ankur Vikal looked as a perfect villain with different body language. Harshavardhan, Brahmanandam totally faltered in providing the laughter, while Sayaji Shinde looked routine.

Story, screenplay, Dialogues and Direction departments were handled by debutant Kiran. With no solid script and confusing narration Kiran looked like lacking in experience. Kiran has brought out the stylish look to entire movie, but was totally missing in content. One can’t find even a single gripping scene which really mattered for ‘Kedi.’ Dialogues were written from depth, but lacked in reaching the audience. Camera work by Sarvesh Murari was top notch. Editing by Shravan was confused. Music by Sandeep Chowtha is a big let down. Art work by Srikanth Ramisetty is highlight of the movie. Production values by Annapurna and Sivaprasad Reddy were very high.

Out of the Movie Kedi: With an average and inconclusive stylish first half ‘Kedi’ looked to be a movie with different taste. Come second half, routine sentiments and emotions mixed with boring and drowsy songs made the whole movie to look pale. Director tried to come up with a ‘James Bond’ look and characterization of hero which wasn’t succeeded. Opening of the title song with Anushka’s surprise entry and remix of ‘Mu…Mu…Muddante Cheda’ were taken well by audience. Characters of Linda and Sara were a mere waste and looked like patch work to the main story line elevating hero’s character. With worst music and dim background score, lack of comedy, confusing narration…’Kedi’ never looked like a movie from hero like Nagarjuna.

Cinejosh Verdict of the Movie Kedi: Sometimes Rummy is bad man, even this Rummy is ‘DUMMY’ man.
