Behind the Movie Kaththi: Kalyanram is ‘Athanokkadu’ in entire Nandamuri family who not only acts as a Hero but produces movies on his self NTR Arts Banner. Unfortunately, he missed the target with all his last movies. This time Kalyanram believed in his old friend Mallikarjun and also on the old story of Sister Sentiment. With cute Saranya Mohan and hot Sana Khan besides Kalyanram, let us see what is his ‘Kaththi’ all about?
In the Movie Kaththi: Ramakrishna (Kalyanram) is a foot ball player trying for National selections and has a beautiful family of two elder brothers, their wives along with children, father (Chandramohan) and little sister Haritha (Saranya Mohan). The bonding between Ramakrishna and Haritha is so affectionate and strong that every time Ramakrishna rescues her from any kind of problem ranging from college teasing to examinations.
In this mean time, Ramakrishna falls in love with his die hard fan Suchitra (Sana Khan). When the time comes for Haritha’s marriage with a big businessman, all of the sudden she goes missing. Ramakrishna tries his best to find her but fails and with support of his family gets back to concentrate on the game. On the way to appear National selections, Ramakrishna finds his sister chased by Rayalaseema faction family of Rami Reddy (Kota) and his son Krishna Mohan (‘Kick’ Shyam).
After saving her, Haritha narrates a small flashback and here it goes. Actually Haritha rejects the love proposal of Krishna Mohan and slaps him in public. Developing the grudge, Krishna Mohan follows her with vengeance and wins the love only to elope her to Kovelakuntla village where his Rayalaseem faction family tortures her. Here is where Haritha escapes and is saved by her brother (End of flashback).
From here on Ramakrishna as a stranger takes Haritha back to Krishna Mohan’s house and teaches the entire family a lesson saving them from rival faction family of Muni Samy. In this journey, Ramakrishna finds that his lady love Suchitra is none other than the sister of Krishna Mohan. How did Ramakrishna set right the life of Haritha forms rest of the story?
Values of the Movie Kaththi: A stale story line heard and seen numerously. When story is that rotten, ‘Kaththi needs innovative screenplay or splendid narration. Unfortunately Vakkantham Vamshi’s story, Mallikarjun’s screenplay and direction failed to lift the movie. Not even a cent of novelty is attempted anywhere in entire run. Dialogues by Rathnam were pathetic remembering the old brother-sister sentiment movies. Editing by Gowthamraju, Cinematography by Sarvesh Murari can be rated good work while music from Mani Sharma is total disappointment. Fights by Ram Lakshman were regular. Production values of NTR Arts were remarkable.
Performance wise, Kalyanram gets the pass marks. He is best in action scenes while sentiment and emotional scenes failed to the core. Sana Khan doesn’t find any place in the list because she is just for adding the glam quotient and dancing to Mani Sharma tunes. Saranya Mohan can adapt herself to the sister roles from now on and she is right fit. If Kota was okay; Kick Shayam has no scope to perform; Ajay’s cruelty was mere waste; Telangana Shakuntala, Brahmi, Dharmavarapu, Chandramohan, Sameer, Venu Madhav were damn routine.
Out of the Movie Kaththi: Kalyanram can try for a break only with a next movie. There is not even a single interesting point in entire movie that can save us. What made Kalyanram dare for this kind of pale venture is a big question? Mallikarjun wasted more than half of first half in routine family drama and when actual twist comes, audience feel more uncomfortable because story goes on regular guessing lines. Entire second half has the same formula of hero making fool of villain by staying in his own den and side actors making comedy. No need to mention the movies from where this 'Kaththi' story line is plucked because Vakkantham Vamshi may have to get a pen and paper to jot down the big list of 'Brother-Sister' sentimental movies.
With many unsolved questions and unconvincing scenes, neither Kalyanram nor his movie stayed apt to the title of ‘Kaththi.’ BO result for this kind of regular movies can never be special.
Cinejosh Verdict of the Movie Kaththi: Very Old, Blunt and Rusted. Stay Away…its Septic Prone!!!
