Behind the Movie EGEV: Chandra Siddharth and Madan combined with Sumanth and Pinky Savika in music direction of MM Keeravani made this film something special. Let us see, how far this movie has chances of flying at BO?

In the Movie EGEV: Story begins with introduction to unemployed and happy go lucky Bullabbayi (Sumanth) in a small village of East Godavari district. He is a Ghajini fighting with 10th class final exams for a record 10th time. In same village lives his uncle’s family whose daughter Neelaveni (Pinky Savika) working abroad arrives in India. In fact, Bullabbayi was once 10th classmate even to Maradalu Neelaveni. Like others, Bava-Maradallu mischief begins until the time Neelaveni conveys her wish to marry Bullabbayi. Soon they live to America with an un-clarified doubt on why did a modernly civilized girl Neelaveni agreed to marry a villager and unsettled Bullabbayi? What’s the reason behind and when Neelaveni realized the true love and value of Bullabbayi?

Values of the Movie EGEV: The true worth and real essence of film was felt only till first half when story travels in East Godavari district with dominating nativity factor. This is the portion where brand of Chandra Siddharth and Madan are truly felt. Although there was a good amount of lag yet it’s the comedy and colorful treatment generated time pass entertainment. Never to miss, the awesome re-recording of MM Keeravani has flown like a lifeline throughout. Chandramouli’s cinematography was more or less decent. Editing could have been better in second half. As said earlier, Keeravani is the real backbone. Two to three songs are really wonderful and also choreographed, presented well. Background score elevated even the weak substance. Dialogues were decent and up to the mark on many occasions. SS Kanchi’s story and screenplay followed the 1980’s formulae. Production values of Cherry Films are just average.

Performance wise Sumanth is the real asset. He was at complete ease excelling in emotioal, sentiment, comedy and dances as well. The Bharata Natyam dance in lady get up was special from Sumanth. Even in second half, he lifted few scenes. Pinky Savika was good in long shots and there is no lip sync for her dialogues. Of the remaining Thagubothu Ramesh, Annapurnamma, Harshavardhan, Sudha etc did their parts.

Out of the Movie EGEV: Stories with emotional content and pure Telugu environment always have bright chances of winning the BO. Despite weak content, a strong treatment with conviction could have saved the day for EGEV. Chandra Siddharth’s handling of second half was feeble and shallow. Scenes run with immense lag and story moves no where. The way first half ends, a promising second half is expected. Unluckily, it falls flat once lead characters reach USA (of course, shot in Thailand). Literally, they tried to fill the gaps with boring and lengthy cum unnecessary content before taking it to climax which was further more unconvincing.

The big plus for EGEV is clean and neat treatment without any double meaning dialogues which could please some sections of family audience. There are no ifs and buts because BO wise no way this film can pass the big test. If you are looking for something really great of Chandra Siddharth and Madan’s standards, this is not so.

Cinejosh Verdict of EGEV: A Slowly Running Old Horse.
