Behind the Movie Disco: One among the ‘Happy Days’ find outs are young boy Nikhil. His energy is put to test again with ‘Disco’ directed by Hari K Chanduri with Sarah Sharma as heroine. Let us see, how strong Nikhil made us to enjoy with his ‘Disco’?
In the Movie Disco: As per the story an orphan Disco (Nikhil) grows up in the shadow of his three friends (Vijay Sai, Khayyum and ‘Happy Days’ fame Paidi Thalli) and their parents. Theirs is Tapori batch with no aim in life. Taking it as a challenge from parents, Disco makes his friends travel all the way to Bangkok where they land in an island belonging to local Don Ashu Bhai (Ashish Vidyarthi). Here Disco falls in love with Don’s daughter Shaini (Sarah Sharma) keeping his friends lives in risk. When the subject of Friendship Vs Love come to fore, Disco reveals the short flashback explaining the exact reason why he came to Bangkok. As Disco starts impressing Shaini with his heroism, one more twist to release that Shaini is already in love with one of her classmate. What happened later on? How did Disco along with his friends and one more Love Failure character of Ali win his love form the rest.
Values & Out of the Movie Disco: Openly speaking, there is nothing to engage or impress you in this film, all the way from Scene 1 to The End. Here and there bits and pieces of comedy episodes shot on MS Narayana spoofed as ‘Businessman’ Surya Bhai in first half and Ali in second half was worth to mention. Direction by Hari K Chanduri is hopeless. His screenplay was literally pathetic with no life. First half of the film is one of the best tortures in recent times. Even the interval twist is spoiled by Nikhil’s over-action added with director’s inability. Satish Mallampati is only the man who needs at least a positive mentioning for his dialogues which sprinkled some laughs. Malhar Bhatt’s camera work was okay while editing by Pravin Pudi is again head aching. ‘Mantra’ Anand’s music is also of sub standard. Production values of Abhinav Reddy and Style Entertainments are moderate.
Acting wise, better Nikhil try to get command on his body language. Never does he live up to the demand of scene. Either he goes over board or for an under play. Sarah Sharma looked elder than Nikhil and was pale in first half. By second half, she got some glamour oozed. Ashish Vidyarthi is regular. All the three friends of Nikhil viz. Vijay Sai, Khayyum and ‘Happy Days’ fame Paidi Thalli were also over reactive. Raghu Babu entertained for a while. Entry of Ali in second half is like wakening of patrons in theatre. MS Narayana’s spoof of ‘Businessman’ was good work but copied from ‘Toilet’ concept which became famous on Youtube. Character of Jeeva was unnecessarily prolonged.
Definitely, ‘Disco’ could have been a good product if director Hari K Chanduri has kept some hard work in scripting and narration. Second half is far better than first half which ends on illogical note. This movie would work like a lesson, when a director targets on short term goals rather than a sustained long term output. Hari was most of the time influenced by the taking style of Puri Jagannath. Unfortunately, not even 1% of this star director’s standards are shown in ‘Disco.’ His research on penning humor with contemporary commercial advertisements was little innovative. In total, ‘Disco’ is a very weak product with no hopes of survival at BO.
Cinejosh Verdict of the Movie Disco: Better Title would be ‘Musko.’
