Behind the Movie CGR: Combination of Pawan Kalyan and Puri Jagannath is sensational by any standards of Tollywood. So, CGR is a special film for Power Star Fans and general audience. Let us see what kind of product Puri offered us?
In the Movie CGR: Mechanic Ram Babu (Pawan Kalyan) is a man with social responsibility. He cannot ignore the wrong happenings around him. Seeing this fire, a daring Camera(wo)man Ganga (Tamanna) of NC News Channel approaches Ram Babu to take up the job of reporting. This gives Ram Babu enormous freedom to come face to face with political atrocities in the state as a Media Man. Jawahar Naidu (Kota) and his son Rana Babu (Prakashraj) are power hungry waiting for a chance to dethrone the present CM (Naassar).
As story proceeds on, channel CEO (Dharmavarapu) could not bear the aggression of Ram Babu and on the other side Ganga develops romantic feelings towards our Hero. Next major breakthrough in narration comes in the form of direct conflict between Ram Babu and Rana Babu. How did Ram Babu vanish the CM hopes of Rana Babu forms the rest.
Values of the Movie CGR: Once again director Puri Jagannath has picked an ordinary story line to add extra ordinary heroism of Pawan Kalyan. The same random attitude of Puri to go by his natural instincts as seen in ‘Businessman’ is followed for CGR which resulted in a half baked movie. Scripting wise, the spark of Puri was visible only in patches. Instead most of the time, he banked on Pawan’s image. Dialogues were worth while in parts and especially pre-climax portion needs a special mentioning. Cinematography of Sam K Naidu was average while editing of SR Sekhar could have been better for second half. Mani Sharma’s music was good for a couple of songs. Production values of Danayya are just passable.
Performance wise, Pawan is the very life and soul. There is fire in his character and that takes the movie forward. Entire second half stood on his shoulders and dialogues coming from Pawan’s mouth were fired like a bullet which will send his Fans into loud whistles. Tamanna was sidelined only for funny scenes and she was as usual gorgeous in songs. Prakashraj is the main antagonist and he was at his routine. Kota gave wonderful expressions. Comedy of Ali as SRK and Brahmi as Bobby working as creative heads in two channels has come out refreshing. Gabriela Bertante was hot in the role of channel head Smitha.
Out of the Movie CGR: Strictly speaking Puri has just utilized the hit image of Pawan post ‘Gabbar Singh.’ Neither there is a tight screenplay not a strong conflict yet Pawan’s presence on screen rendering lengthy dialogues about social responsibility will thrill the Fans. May be for the first time, dialogues from Pawan Kalyan were completely meaningful and he well conserved his energy levels.
Although subject selected by Puri was vague and random, when it is applied to Pawan Kalyan everything fell in right place. CGR stands in market alone on the name of Power Star. For others, this might be a poorly etched concept which should have dealt much better. Of course, Puri needs to be blamed for that. When we speak on pure positives, Pawan Kalyan is the rescuer.
First half runs only on entertainment introducing the main characters. Pre-interval the actual lock in story is revealed. Entire second half was filled with social message which will be liked only by Fans. Overall, if you are a Fan of Pawan…you will enjoy it else…
