Behind the Movie Amrutham Chandamamalo: The brand of Gunnam Gangaraju is different from other successful people in TV and film arena. He is an intelligent with immense penchant for offering something new. Proving to be a high TRP pulling serial on small screen circuit, the same is remodeled for big screen. Let us see, for far there is a ‘Gravity’ pull in this journey to moon?

In the Movie Amrutham Chandamamalo: Story begins with landing of Amrutham (Avasarala Srinivas) and Anjaneyulu (Harish) on moon. Here comes narration of flashback on what happened before their Lunar Mission? Thick friends Amrutham and Anji are divided by elder man in family (Chandramohan). They both grow big to become top Hoteliers in India and abroad. Only after the blasting of Egypt Pyramids by Terrorist Sim Laden, these friends are united. However, their past owner Appaji (Shivannarayana) and RTC Rocket Transport Company broker (Rao Ramesh) cheat Amrutham and Anji for Rs.2000 Crores for opening of star hotels on Moon. Meanwhile, RTC is closed and the lead characters are back to their Amrutha Vilas. Later on, did they succeed in going to Moon? Is so how? What is the entire connection with Sim Laden?

Values & Out of the Movie Amrutham Chandamamalo: The enormous advantage for Amrutham serial on TV was simple humor with superlative treatment. In fact, the characters of Harshavardhan and Gundu Hanumantha Rao have connected so well with TV viewers which euphemized Gunnam to present the same on big screen. The concept was new and characters were familiar. Problem lied in pulling the fool notion by two hours plus. Scenes were stretched for no purpose spreading the boredom. Definitely Gunnam is a litterateur who can mix comic punch and brain munch to dialogues. How far common public can swallow them also needs to be cross checked? There are plenty of academic words tried in few instances which go off as beamers for general audience. Screenplay wise, it is more of sorts like a TV serial and less like a complete movie. Technically, Rasool Ellore’s camera work is cool cucumber while Dharmendra Kakarala’s editing is warmly tardy. Sree’s music direction is not disappointing. Production wise, the setting of Moon erected and VFX showed their neat standards.

On performance front, Srinivas is decent enough as Amrutham. His timing of dialogues was upto the mark. Harish Koyalagundla as Anji was over reactive at moments. Shivannarayana and Urination episode in space with Rao Ramesh is best of all which needed a bit of Newton’s Third Law. Gunnam is known for such scientific thinking failed to manage the tempo. Three or four of such episodes would have made the film a joyful ride. Dhanya is wasted. Vasu Inturi, Krishna Bhagawan, LB Sri Ram, Ahuti Prasad etc were just okay.

If Amrutham film is a product not from Gunnam, it is worth appreciable. For a man who nurtured decent movies in past like ‘Little Soldiers, Aithe’ did not live the same impact. Although remaining unrealistic and thinking out of world (about Moon) is Gunnam’s style, his methodological treatment was 1/6 of his best just like gravitational force on moon is 1/6 of ‘g’ on earth. So, ‘g’ (Gunnam) on ‘Amrutham Chandamamalo’ is 1/6 of Amrutham on TV.

I do not know whether Gunnam thought of ‘Amrutham’ before the release of ‘Gravity’ or not but the sojourn was foolishly identical. At the same time, investing this range of budget is also a risk welcomed by this director cum producer. Concepts of 6 feet by 6 feet twin tower hotels or urination in space or framing lunar mission or silent marriage are possible only for Gunnam brain. Nevertheless, ideas alone aren’t enough to feed a two hour comedy movie. Situations created within the plot to add bundles of humor are simply wasted. Even Gunnam makes us believe on Lunar Water for growing the paddy fields. Finally, if Science students have any questions on Moon, presence of water on its surface and it’s Geography, you can contact Gunnam.

Coming to commercial analysis, Metro audience might have ‘Gunnam Gravity Pull’ to an extent else BO Gravitational Constant is Null. On ending note, Gunnam has left few of the characters on Moon, if he has any Lunatic idea of making a sequel, better try it on TV and not cinema.
