Behind the Movie Adavi Kachina Vennela: Only reason this film is into headlines is because of Dil Raju releasing it in Nizam region. Known to be in a new genre of history mixed science fiction, crime from debutant director Akki Vishwanath Reddy, let us get into the review.
In the Movie Adavi Kachina Vennela: Story begins with Tanikella’s voiceover explaining Ancient, Medieval and Modern India’s history on death of Sudharma, a Doctor who used to heal many diseases with one touch of a magically precious stone. Before death, Sudharma swallows the stone and his dead body is buried. Later on many rulers tried to recover the body but their attempts go in vain like ‘Adavi Kachina Vennela’ (Failures).
Having read this story, Aravind (Aravind Krishna) living in Rayalseema goes on search of Sudharma by buying and digging acres of lands in his surrounding areas. Aravind loses interest in family and wife (Pooja Ramachandran) enters into illegal affair with neighbor (Rishi). Aravind has a rare mental ability of detecting Iron and Metals underground with radio magnetic powers in his brain (sounds like Extra Sensory Perception right). So, he is eyed upon by African Mining Mafia head (Vinod Kumar).
As Aravind do not care for money, he carries on with passion to find Sudharma. Thus enters Vennela (Meenakshi Dikshit) into his life with a car accident and they get intimate physically.
However, Vennela has a painful past as a Professional Shooter seen for sexual exploitation by Olympic Coach (Suresh). She escapes to join Mining Mafia head to save her elder sister’s daughter.
What happened later? How Aravind and Vennela tackled Mining Mafia when they really find Sudharma’s magical stone?
Values & Out of the Movie Adavi Kachina Vennela: Having a new idea and innovative thought is different from executing and presenting the same on screen. A good beginning is half the battle won. Akki Vishwanatha Reddy started the film on a very promising note and gradually traversed into a regular cinematic format. When hearing the names of Sudharma, Magical Stone etc, patrons are alerted in beginning scenes.
Coming into contemporary scenario, the situational humor and Rayalaseema slang with strong nativity treatment sails the story smoothly till a point of time. Of course, Akki failed to give no clarity on hero’s proper characterization till the end. Once Meenakshi Dikshit enters into plot, everything becomes confusing with no purpose served in narration. Screenplay wanes from below average to bad with gap filling scenes testing the patience.
Kalyan’s camera work is marred by weak CGI output presented. Marthand K Venkatesh’s editing is uneven. Josyabhatla and Karthik’s musical score is just average. Best among all are the dialogues from Akki and Lyrics from Sirivennela full of literary wealth. Production quality of Moonlight is also not up to the mark.
On performance front, Aravind Krishna looked rigid with baffling characteristic traits. Meenakshi Dishit has a hot body well utilized. She has a lengthy role and easily the best on screen compared to rest. Pooja Ramachandran, Rishi are in less prominence with a midway drop. Vinod Kumar, Suresh did well as antagonists. Comedy of Praveen, 30 years industry Surya (Blood Bath) sparked laughs. Of the rest, no big need to mention.
Technically, ‘AKV’ boasted as a movie of new genre logically fits into NO genre. Spirit of Akki shown in conceiving the subject of ‘AKV’ has fallen down during implementation. There is a well worked theme behind each characterization penned. However, nothing of such was elevated in treatment. ‘AKV’ is a clear case of immature and inexperienced handling from a thoughtful director.
Encouragement needs to be given for beginning directors. How to do it, when they lose hold on their own subject in no time? A promising plot is plundered with paltry application.
