Artists, Technicians Review
Parasuram decided to showcase Mahesh Babu in the unforgotten mass avatar. To some extent, he emerged successful. He came with a story that starts of in an interesting manner and it takes off to another level with the introduction of Mahesh Babu in a stylish manner. The romantic track between Mahesh Babu and Keerthy Suresh though had Mahesh Babu's earlier films' shades, managed to entertain movie lovers. It tickled the bones to some extent and in between the action episodes increased the interest levels. The balanced dose of entertaining, romantic, hilarious, and action elements turned the first half into an average one as the film's story moves one step forward and two steps backward resulting in a dip in the pace.
Interval bang sets the tone for the powerful second half. However, the second half turns out to be a serious one with comedy disappearing for most of the part. In between the routine action elements, the scenes between Mahesh Babu, Samuthirakhani, and others turn out to be extremely preachy turning the entire story a tedious watch. The comedy track in between featuring Keerthy Suresh and Mahesh Babu looked silly and odd. When many expected a high octane climax, it turned out to be ordinary and even more preachy. Parasuram selected a burning topic but instead of narrating it in an entertaining and at the time impactful manner, came up with routine elements. The story turned out to be weak after the entertaining first half though monotonous but he lost the second half with the uneven screenplay as the point turned out to be waferthin. This resulted in lengthy and preachy dialogues filling the scenes.
Mahesh Babu played the role with aplomb. His role has different variations and he showcased it in a beautiful and attractive manner. He looked as handsome and charismatic as ever and the swag, style, and mannerisms associated with the role are a treat for the viewers. He delivered the witty one-liners in his own style and also the expressions and emotions he showed steal the hearts. Mahesh worked hard on his stunts and dances and this could be noticed on screen in the dance movements. The mass moves he danced for Ma Ma Mahesha, Penny, and Kalavathi song is a treat to watch. But one gets a feeling that the dance choreography failed to elevate Mahesh's mass moves to the next level. One feels that the energy is lacking when compared to Dookudu. Mahesh tried to be at his energetic and wittiest best but the writing failed to optimize it.
Keerthy Suresh oozed glamor in her role. She played the role of a posh girl with ease. She looked beautiful in traditional dresses and looked good in modern outfits. However, at times her makeup looked odd. She got a limited screen presence and did not get a chance to showcase her acting skills. She is confined to doing the routine heroine role opposite a top star. Samuthirakhani played the role of tailormade for him. He did such roles earlier and he just passed through the motions. His getup resembles that of his earlier films. Vennela Kishore evoked a few laughs that are routine while Tanikella Bharani, Naga Babu, and Nadiya played the emotional roles. Others like Subbaraju, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sowmya Menon, Posani Krishna Murali, Ravi Prakash, Brahmaji, and Satyam Rajesh got limited screen presence.
Thaman tuned beautiful songs. Penny, Kalaavathi songs stand out and even the mass song Ma Ma Mahesha attracts viewers. The songs are shot in the backdrop of extravagant sets and beautiful locations. However, the song's choreography could have been far better. Even the much-talked-about Ma Ma Mahesha dance moves don't really set the screens on fire. Much to the disappointment of all, Thaman's background score failed to make an impact. His background music failed to elevate the scenes.
Madhie's cinematography at times is beautiful but other times turned out to be average. Editing of Marthand K Venkatesh could have been more crispy. There are many repetitive scenes and drags that impact the film's tempo. Dialogues could have been more powerful and impactful. VFX used turned out to be substandard. They turned out to be routine and monotonous. Production values are good.

Rating Analysis
Parasuram got the golden opportunity to direct Mahesh Babu after he scored a blockbuster in form of Geetha Govindam. The mass shades of Mahesh Babu in Sarkaru Vaari Paata excited all the fans. However, for all the hard work and effort of Super Star Mahesh Babu, Parasuram's story lacked the soul that he could have added with the powerful emotions. Even the mass elevations of Mahesh Babu missed the wow factor. Thus Sarkaru Vaari Paata turns out to be half meals for Mahesh Babu's fans and nil meals for others. Considering all these elements, CJ goes with a 2.5 rating for Sarkaru Vaari Paata.
