Icon Star Allu Aravind's Pushpa The Rule is finally releasing on 5 December 2024 after numerous delays. The film stars Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead and Fahadh Faasil as the antagonist under the direction of Sukumar. Expectations are soaring on the film as it is the sequel to the blockbuster film Pushpa The Rise. The film's teaser and trailer got tremendous response and pre release business broke all records. Let us find out how Pushpa The Rule entertained movie lovers in the theatres.
Pushpa The Rule story revolves around how a laborer after becoming the leader of the smuggling syndicate reaches the top echelons overcoming the threats from all his rivals. Pushpa Raj (Allu Arjun) after becoming the leader of the red sandalwood smuggling syndicate makes many enemies. He challenges the SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat (Fahadh Faasil), insulting him and rubbing him on the wrong side before his marriage with Srivalli (Rashmika Mandanna).
How this changes his equations with SP Bhanwar Singh Shekawat and how his mother Parvathamma (Kalpalatha), trusted aid Mondelu (Jagadeesh), his rivals Mangalam Srinu (Sunil), his wife Dakshayani (Anasuya Bharadwaj), Union Minister Prathap Reddy (Jagapathi Babu), MP Siddappa Naidu (Rao Ramesh), Jaali Reddy (Dhananjaya), Jakka Reddy (Shanmukh), his half brothers Molleti Mohan Raj (Ajay), Molleti Dharma Raj (Sri Tej), Chennai Murugan (Mime Gopi), SI Kupparaj (Brahmaji) react form rest of the narration.
Allu Arjun came up with a stunning performance in the role of Pushpa Raj. He took the character to new heights with his performance and dialogue delivery. His mass mannerisms, expressions and emotions stole the show. He turned out to be the show stopper. He not only excelled in romantic scenes with Rashmika and their chemistry looking good on the screen, he enacted stunts with ease. He danced energetically whenever he is given a chance coming up with his signature steps and dance moves.
Rashmika Mandanna in the first half indulged in glamor treat to delight all the fans. She however came up with powerful dialogues in emotional scenes connecting chords with all. Rao Ramesh made his presence felt with his body language and mannerisms. Jagapathi Babu is ok in the role of the Union Minister.
Fahadh Faasil attracted with his mannerisms and bodylanguage. The scenes featuring Fahadh Faasil and Allu Arjun stands out. However his role is not ended in a proper manner. Sunil,Anasuya Bharadwaj, Brahmaji is ok in their roles. They did not get much screen presence. Sreeleela sparkles oozing with glamor in the special song.
Pushpa The Rule story is penned by director Sukumar. Sukumar continued from where he left Pushpa The Rise. However he tried to turn the film more rich by showing the story evolve in Japan, Delhi, Rameshwaram etc. He did not take much time to introduce Allu Arjun with a breathtaking action sequence in Japan. From then on the story shifts to flashback and it shows the rise and influence of Pusharaj and how Fahadh Faasil as SP Bhanwar Singh Shekawat tries to settle scores with him for the insult.
Sukumar concentrated on elevating the heroism of Allu Arjun as Pushpa Raj and the other characters just appear on the screen in a convenient manner. Fahadh Faasil appears as Bhanwar Singh and the clash between both at times excites all. Sukumar however takes the narration giving a different angle bringing in Rao Ramesh a MP and Union Minister Jagapathi Babu in Delhi.
In order to elevate the romance between husband wife in form of Allu Arjun and Rashmika, he showed Rashmika in the bold avatar in most of the first half. The pre interval block is intense with Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil fighting it out with their wits and the interval bang brings an end to the first half with Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil challenging each other.
While the first half is action packed bweteen Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil with few romantic scenes involving Allu Arjun and Rashmika, second half is full of action sequence and also emotional scenes. The Jathara scenes thrill all taking the narration to another level. The pre climax is once again emotional before the climax turning out to be underwhelming with a lead to the third part.
Sukumar's did not include many twists and turns in the story and he kept it simple. After showing the ordinary labourer's rise as the syndicate head in Pushpa The Rise, he showed how the person deals with the covert and overt enemies and overcomes them. Mostly he concentrated on elevating the heroism of Allu Arjun and in the process, the other characters turned out to be half-baked. Fahadh Faasil's role ends?, rather in a tame manner while no one knows when Jagapathi Babu will become active Rao Ramesh sometimes looks ok and Sunil, Anasuya, and others just pass through the motions. Brahmaji is present throughout the film but he did not get much scope to show his talent and so does Satya who appears in the intro scene. The screenplay could have been better and direction is just ok.
Devi Sri Prasad came up with foot tapping tunes for all the songs to attract masses. Though the songs' placement at times impacted the flow of the narration, they are shot in a beautiful manner in Sooseki and Feelings. The songs are well choreographed and Allu Arjun and Rashmika danced with full energy and grace. Their chemistry on screen is the highlight in the songs. Sreeleela sparked and gave ample beauty treat in the special song Kissik. However, movie lovers will be disappointed as Pushpa Pushpa title song was edited drastically in the film.
Background music tuned by Sam CS, elevated the scenes and increased the intensity levels during the action blocks. Stunt choreography is breathtaking. :Miroslaw Kuba Brozek's cinematography is captivating and it is in sync with the story. Editing of Naveen Nooli is ok and he tried his best to ensure that there are no lags. However at times, few repetitive and emotional scenes impacted the film's narration slowing the pace. Production values are lavish and the makers ensured that the entire film is made in a rich manner on the big screen.
Altogether, Pushpa The Rule turnsout to be high octane mass action entertainer. Allu Arjun came up with a terrific, sensational and breathtaking performance. Be it his mannerisms, dialogue delivery, emotions, expressions, action sequences,he nailed it to perfection. Sukumar continued from where he left in Pushpa The Rise. Just like in Pushpa The Rise, the sequel Pushpa The Rule also has many illogical and routine scenes. But comparatively the positives outdoes the minuses and masses who do not look for logics, will love the film's intense action and emotional elements. Little fine-tuning of the script and doing away with illogical scenes would have added more value to the final output. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 3 star rating for Pushpa The Rule.
