Sundeep Kishan who impressed movie lovers with Ooru Peru Bhairava Kona is on a mission to mesmerize movie lovers with Mazaka. Expectations are high as it is directed by Trinadha Rao Nakkina who scored a mass hit with Ravi Teja's Dhamaka. Let's see what magic Mazaka created at the box office releasing on Shivratri.
Mazaka story revolves around the relationship between father and son and their surprising and stunning romantic journeys. Ramana (Rao Ramesh) who works as a consultant in a Visa Consultancy leads a life along with his son Krishna (Sundeep Kishan).
When Ramana tries to get his son Krishna married he faces numerous problems and then he takes a surprising decision even as Krishna falls in love with a beautiful girl Meera (Ritu Varma). What is Ramana's surprising decision, and what role Yashoda (Anshu), her brother Bhargav Varma (Murali Sharma), CEO of RDM Steels, Inspector Ajay (Ajay) and others play form the interesting twist.
Sundeep Kishan did well in the role tailor made for him. He showed variations and brought modulation in his dialogue delivery and danced with ease. He emoted well in the romantic and comedy scenes and also showed emotions when it mattered the most.
Ritu Varma oozed with glamor on screen. She did not get much scope to show her acting talent. She is ok with her performance. Manmadhudu beauty Anshu Ambani made her comeback with this film. She got a meaty role and did justice to it. She excelled in emotions and elevated the scenes with her performance.
Rao Ramesh as usual stole the show with his mannerisms and hilarious antics. The pluspoint in his performance is his dialogue delivery and accent. His expressions and emotions are spot on. Murali Sharma is good in his role and did full justice.
Ajay is ok and at times went overboard. Hyper Adi, Chammak Chandra, Srinivas Reddy,Raghu Babu performed according to their roles.
Mazaka story, screenplay and dialogues are penned by Prasanna Kumar Bezawada and Trinadha Rao Nakkina directed the film. The story turned out to be simple but Trinadha Rao Nakkina managed to entertain viewers to some extent in the first half. The scenes featuring Sundeep Kishan, Rao Ramesh and the presence of Murali Sharma along with other cast, evoked few laughs. The first half ,despite the predictable and routine elements, turns out to be decent with the screenplay enabling the film sail smoothly with the characters getting established and then the traits of the characters shown in a decent way.
This sets the tone for the second half and hopes increase on increased hilarious content. But much to the disappointment of all, right form the first half, Prasanna Kumar Bezawada and Trinadha Rao Nakkina loses touch and the narration nosedive. Everything turns out to be silly and the actors instead of performing, go over the top. Even Sundeep Kishan and Rao Ramesh with their over the top action and loud dialogues tests the patience of the viewers giving immense torture.
To the top of it, Ajay's character ends up irritating the viewers. It was left to few emotional scenes featuring Sundeep Kishan, Rao Ramesh, Anshu and Ritu Varma in the runup to the climax, Trinadha Rao Nakkina manage to salvage the situation. However even then, it turns out to be that he was saving the lost cause. Dialogues at times are hilarious but most of the times looked pretty ordinary.
Leon James music is ok. Couple of songs are foottapping and youthful but others turned out to be loud and tested the patience of the viewers. Background music is in sync with the story. Nizar Shafi's cinematography turned the film colorful. Editing of Chota K Prasad is ok but he should have chopped many scenes in the second half. Production values are ok.
Altogether, Mazaka turnes out to be spineless, silly entertainer. After a decent start aided with Rao Ramesh and Sundeep Kishan's performance in the first half, director Trinadha Rao Nakkina failed to maintain the same tempo. He lost the plot in the second half and everything turned out to be mediocre. Had the makers paid attention to the second-half and reworked on it,they could have retrieved the situation. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2.5 rating for Mazaka.
