Artists, Technicians Review

Director Maruthi is known to create comedy highlighting the weaknesses of a particular character. He did the same with his films Bhale Bhale Magadivoy and Mahanubhavudu. Maruthi quickly slips into his stronghold and tried to entertain movie lovers playing to the weakness of the fears of a father of a girl. Maruthi this time instead of highlighting the weakness of the protagonist, created the character of the girl's father weak.

However much to the disappointment of the movie lovers entertainment went missing in the narration. Though he started off on a hilarious note, from then on colleagues playing on to the fear psychosis of the father became repetitive. So the film's story did not move forward and the Maruthi passed time by elevating the fears of the girl's father. The second half tuned out to be a tad better as Maruthi highlighted the emotions between father and daughter, mother and son. However, the scenes lacked an emotional connection.

As usual just like in all Maruthi's films, here the father's character which suffers from so many fears within seconds turns bolder and all fears disappear in a jiffy. Dialogues are mostly emotional and turn repetitive. Maruti's story turned out to be routine as there is nothing new in it.  Screenplay and direction are just ok and don't generate much interest among movie lovers.

Santosh Sobhan performed well in the role tailor-made for him. He showed good expressions and emotions in the role of a youngster who is possessive about his girlfriend and after suffering a few setbacks due to aggressive nature tries to solve the problems of her family. However, he got less screen presence compared to other stars.

Mehreen was surprised with her slim physique. She got the limited role and is ok with her performance. She at times looked beautiful but she failed to get the right expressions. She looked pale and sick as viewers got used to her chubby face. Ajay Ghosh performed the role of a caring father worried about his daughter and also who suffers from extreme fears. Vennela Kishore, Saptagiri generated a few laughs as Doctor Chakravarty and Ambulance driver Anand. Praveen attracted and entertained as Appadala Vijayalakshmi. Sudharshan's comedy looked forced and other actors got limited screen presence.

Anup Rubens music is ok. His background music is average. The cinematography of Sai Sriram is good. Editing of SB. Uddhav could have been far better as there are many drags in the film. Production values are good.

Advantages

Santosh Sobhan

Few hilarious scenes

Rating Analysis

Maruthi captured the imagination of all with Manchi Rojulochaie casting Santosh Sobhan in the lead. The feel-good title and the festive release generated immense hype among movie lovers with attractive trailer and teaser. Maruthi however failed to set screens on fire as he concentrated more on emotions rather than entertaining viewers. He could have succeeded had he connected chords with the viewers with intense scenes elevating the emotions. But with the scenes turning repetitive and the storyline turning weak with only a single-point agenda of highlighting a particular weakness and many illogical scenes like everything happening in the girl's father's life as predicted by his jealous colleagues, the film turned out to be just an average entertainer. Considering all these elements, CJ goes with a 2.25 rating for Manchi Rojulochaie.
