Boyfriend For Hire story is all about a young boy going on a mission to find a girl of his liking following a new practice. Arjun (Vishawnt Duddumpudi) develops an aversion to girls following a few incidents in his life and getting influenced by his uncle (Harshavardhan). But with his parents (Sivannarayana) planning to get him married, he sets on a mission to find a girl of his liking. In the process, he meets a beautiful girl Divya (Malavika Satheeshan). To find out more about Arjun and what is his concept of a Boyfriend For Hire and whether he is able to find the girl of his liking, how he got influenced by his friend (Madhunandan), Divya's parents (Raja Ravindra), and others form the rest of the story.
Boyfriend for Hire story selected by Santosh Kambhampati is a romantic entertainer. Santosh planned to generate interest with the concept Boyfriend For Hire and to an extent he succeeded. The first half highlighted how the protagonist got influenced by his surroundings and later how he goes on to find a girl suitable for him. The narration progresses at a slow and steady pace and after a few routine incidents of a hero trying to impress the heroine and heroine finally falls for his qualities. The second half after a little interesting first half treads on monotonous and routine elements.
The second half goes on and it seems to be a never-ending saga before the lead pair, liven up the proceedings with their emotional performances. Santosh's screenplay and direction are ok but could have been racy and far better as it turned out to be routine once the twist was revealed during the interval.
Vishwant Duddumpudi performed well and got the looks of Allari Naresh and Aryan Rajesh. He impressed with his youthful exuberance. He should work on his expressions to make an impression in the future. Malavika Satheeshan looked beautiful and elegant and performed well on the screen. She came up with the right kind of expressions and emotions. Harshavardhan, Madhunandan, and Nellore Sudarshan tried to generate a few laughs while Sivannarayana and Raja Ravindra are apt for the roles of fathers of hero and heroine respectively. Others performed according to their roles.
The editing of Vijay Vardhan could have been better as the narration dragged and there are many repetitive scenes. Gopisunder's songs are foot-tapping and melodious but at times they acted as the speed breakers. His background score elevated a few scenes. Bala Saraswati's cinematography turned the film colorful giving it a pleasant feel. Dialogues are good and production values are fine.
Altogether, Boyfriend For Hire touched up on a new concept. Santosh Kambhampati starts with the narration in a slow manner taking his own time, to establish the character of the hero. Though there are many routine elements in the story, he dealt it freshly keeping the interest levels intact to some extent. But with little twists and a lack of interesting elements especially in the second half, it turns out to be a tedious watch after a point. Altogether, Boyfriend For Hire is an emotional romantic entertainer, and had Santosh fine-tuned the script and screenplay, the impact would have been even more powerful. However, in the current dull moment, people do not seem to be coming to the theaters, but this 'boyfriend for hire' can be seen once on OTT. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 1.5 rating for Boyfriend For Hire.
