At least 15 migrant workers returning to their homes in Chhattisgarh amid the nationwide lockdown died and one individual has sustained injuries after being run over by a goods train in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad on Friday.
The migrant workers who had been walking along the railway tracks fell asleep due to tiredness and they were mowed down by the train early in the morning at around 6:30 am on the Aurangabad-Jalna railway line.
While states have allowed special trains to transport migrant workers, some are still finding it hard to sign up for the same. Meanwhile, many other migrant workers had already set out on foot before to reach their homes before the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) came out with the order allowing migrant workers to return home.
