Chaos and disruptions have carried on one more day at all major European airports as air space is closed for the second day following the massive Eyjafjallajokull volcano eruption in Iceland on 14th April 2010, Wednesday. European skies have been covered with thick dust cloud covers leading to cancellation of nearly 17,000 flights to and from different regions of Europe which left thousands of passengers abandoned.
Indian passengers traveling to the USA and other parts of Europe have strucked up enroute. London's Heathrow airport, the main airports of Paris, Amsterdam’s Schiphol and Frankfurt in Germany were all closed. Flights between India and destinations in northern Europe, the US and Canada were also cancelled or delayed. Camp beds are arranged at all leading airports but the situation seems to be still demanding.
Volcanic ash poses a great threat to the safety of air crafts as it gets sucked into jet engines and causes them to cut out. Few of Indian passengers hanging out at Heathrow Airport have expressed their concern about the latest developments.
