Copter goes missing...then lands safely

The officials heaved a sigh of relief when a helicopter, which went missing, landed safely at Government Junior College in Huzarnagar in Nalgonda on Friday.

According to sources, the helicopter belonging to Global Victa Company, was carrying two scientists of National Mineral Development Corporation, Hyderabad  for conducting an aerial survey on mineral deposits in Krishna, Guntur and Nalgonda districts for four days.

After the copter took off from the capital, it lost signals around 9.30 a.m nearly 30 km from the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) in Khammam district due to some technical problems.

Immediately the Khammam Radar Station officials informed the Khammam police about the missing copter and alerted the Chennai and Hyderabad ATC officials.

The State Director General of Police Girish Kumar also alerted the superintendents of police in Khammam and Krishna districts over the missing  copter.

Soon, the ATC authorities alerted the Rescue Coordination Centre at Chennai and Hyderabad. However, the helicopter landed safely at Government Junior College in Huzarnagar in Nalgonda at 11.30 a.m giving the much needed relief to all.

According to sources, the copter lost signals as it was flying below the mandatory height of 1,000 ft above ground. However, the officials are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the loss of signals.
