Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Thursday agreed to hand over coal mines under Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGenco) to Singareni Collieries Company Limited.
According to the CM's office sources, the Chief Minister convened a meeting of senior officials of APGenco and Singareni Company at the Secretariat before the deal was finalised.
The Chief Minister decided to intervene in the controversy that cropped up over the handing over of Tadicharla captive coal mines in Karimnagar district to private operators.
Top brass of AP Genco and Singareni Collieries exchanged documents in this connection in front of Chief Minister and Mines Minister B Srinivasa Reddy.
Earlier, the government has agreed to suspend tender process before the Tadicherla mines was handed over to private operators. The Singareni workers union leaders also opposed privatisation of the Tadicherla mines.
