Srisailum, Feb 5: Thousands visited the Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple here to participate in the 11-day Sivaratri Brahmotsavams beginning on Friday.Special pujas commenced at dawn with the temple chief priest conducting ‘Maha Sankalpam’ for universal peace. Leaves and flowers will be offered as part of the ritual called Ankurarpana after the flag hoisting ritual called `Dwajarohanam'.
The major rituals of the Sivaratri including Vahana seva and Lingodbhavakala rudrabhishekam, Padalankarana, Siva-Parvati Kalyanam and car festival.The car festival during the Brahmotsavam of Mallikarjuna and Bramarambika are an integral part of the festivities.The temple committee is making arrangements for nearly one lakh devotees who may attend the car festival).
