Hyderabad, Jan 25: Octogenarian and veteran Tollywood actor Gummadi Venkateswara Rao slipped into coma on Monday at Care Hospital where he was admitted here on Sunday following serious illness.He made his debut in the Telugu film Adrushtra Devudu in 1950. The 83-year-old Gummadi ruled the Telugu cinema for nearly 52 years.
With his unique style of dialogue delivery and expressions, he acted nearly in 500 films in various roles.Popularly known as Gummudi, he was conferred the Doctorate degree by the Telugu University for his role in Mahamantri Timmarusu in 1963. In 1999, he won the prestigious Raghupathy award.
