New Delhi, Jan 13: Minister for Revenue Dharmana Prasada Rao on Wednesday revealed that he had urged the Centre to accord National Scheme status to the Rajiv Arogyasri health insurance scheme envisaged by former chief minister late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy to cover families living below the Poverty Line.The scheme has won accolades from all over the world and is the first of its kind health scheme in the country.
The Revenue Minister said that he had requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to implement the ‘Pavala Vaddi’ scheme all over the country based on it being so well received and appreciated in the state since its implementation. Mr Prasad Rao also said that he had requested the Centre to accord National Project status to Polavaram, Dummuguden, Pranahitha-Chevella and Kanthanapalli projects and extend 90 per cent of the project cost.
