Hyderabad, Jan 11: After remaining downbeat in the last quarter of 2009, the cement prices in Andhra Pradesh are likely to go up marginally. The dealers in the state expect a temporary hike and believe that the hike in cement prices was due to the Telangana agitation.According to GP Goenka, Chairman, Andhra Cements, the disruption in the supply due to the Telangana agitation was one of the reasons for this hike in price.
Forecasting another rise of Rs 10 to Rs 15, the chairman said in the South Indian markets another Rs 10-15 rise over the next two months is not unlikely. The price will still be lower from rest of the country.Today, the difference in the prices between the rest of the country and South Indian markets is Rs 50, and another Rs 15 rise may bring down the differences to Rs 35. ''But I don’t anticipate any price rise above Rs 15 in the next two months,'' the chairman observed.
