Hyderabad, Jan 6: Hyderabad-based Information Technology companies are the worst hit with the frequent bandhs and rasta-rokos and frequent attacks from vandals who are sponsored by suspected Naxalites affecting the man-days and work culture.In view of the political uncertainties looming large affecting the IT sector in the wake of the Telangana stir, majot IT giants are mulling options of shifting the industry or units to Tamil Nadu.Shriram Properties Managing Director M. Murali based in Chenai has been quoted as saying that five of the company’s IT units operating from Hyderabad, have expressed their desire to shift by the month-end.
He said enquiries were made at Chennai and in Visakhapatnam, a major port city which is comparatively peaceful for acquiring office space for three to five years.Chennai-based Akshaya Homes managing director Chitty Babu said two IT majors had approached his company for 100 apartments on lease, besides IT premises. The research wing manager of Angel Broking P Phani Sekhar is stated to have indicated that about 15 to 20 percent of the 60,000-140,000 professionals employed by Tech Mahindra, Patni Computers, Satyam Computer, HCL, Wipro, Infosys and TCS globally were working in Hyderabad.
Software exports from Andhra Pradesh are projected at about Rs.35,000 crore during this fiscal year.The IT department of Tamil Nadu has also confirmed it received enquiries from some Hyderabad-based IT companies. The public sector Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu develops special economic zones.
