Pen-down stir on Jan 6, 7

Hyderabad, Jan 4: About 12 lakh State Government Employees led by various unions have called for a pen-down strike on Jan 6 and  7 demanding 60 per cent fitment in their wages.According to a press release, the unions sought a minimum of Rs 8,120 as basic pay and a maximum of Rs 77,000 based on the service and category.

The employees have threatened to intensify their agitation if the Government fails to respond to their demands by Jan 15.The Andhra Pradesh Government constituted the Ninth Pay Revision Commission under the Chairmanship of retired IAS Officer C S Rao on September 1. The PRC submitted its report to the state government on December 6, but it has not been implemented till now.
