Hyderabad,Dec 28: Despite the disturbances caused to studies due to statewide protests for and against Telangana, the State Government has decided to hold SSC and Intermediate public examinations from March 3.Earlier,the Intermediate Board and SSC Board have decided to defer the public exams in view of protests across the Coastal, Rayalaseema and Telangana regions.The Depatment of School Education has received hundreds of requests from various quarters seeking postponement of the SSC- 2010 exams due to the disturbances in the state.The SSC public examinations, which were scheduled to commence on March 22,will now be held on March 3, 19 days ahead of the schedule. The Intermediate Board has decided to hold examinations from March 3 even as the studies were hampered by closure of schools and colleges in the wake of pro and Telangana agitations.
An official of the Directorate of Government Examinations said the SSC Board was trying its best not to postpone the examinations beyond March.Stating that the government will conduct the exams as usual from March 3, Secondary Education Principal Secretary Suresh Chandra said the changing of the examination schedule would delay the commencement of the next academic year (2010-11) and this should not happen.All universities have, however, deferred their examinations. But the SSC and Intermediate Board have decided to hold exams as per the new schedule.
