Rashtrapati Nilayam sans President in 2010

 

Hyderabad,dec 28: President Pratibha Patil, who was to visit the State capital on Monday and stay at the Rashtrapati Nilayam in Secunderabad unitl Jan 6, 2010 has deferred her plan. For the first time after years, the President's southern residence in Secunderabad remains unoccupied at the time of New Year celebrations.According to official sources, the President has deferred her plan to visit Hyderabad where she was supposed to stay for 10 days at the Rashtrapati Nilayam.

In the light of statewide protests and agitations triggered by the demand for Telangana events throughout December, the President might have been advised against visiting the State.The Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi has sent a communication to the State government informing that the President has changed her proposed visit. Additional Director General of Police A. K. Khan earlier told newsmen that there was no change in the proposed visit of the President.However,the Presidents will celebrate the New Year at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi after many years as the tradition is that the President spends the New Year in the south.
