Potti Sreeramulu Nothing For Telangana!

Potti Sreeramulu Andhra Pradesh Not In Telangana History Syllabus

Now that Telangana state is a reality and KCR is ruling the people of Telangana, it is time for Telangana people to know about their history. Accordingly, Telangana’s History and Telugu textbooks are to see many changes with inclusion of Telangana Culture and History in the syllabus from current academic year. Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE) ordered the Universities to revise syllabus and follow new text books.

Several committees are formulated by TSCHE with senior faculty members from various universities to revise the course syllabus for students in Telangana Universities and other colleges.

‘Telangana students should mandatorily know the freedom struggle and culture of their region. They should learn about Hyderabad history from Qutb Shahis to Nizams. However, Andhra Pradesh will not be omitted from Telangana Text Books as it will be a part of Indian History.

Fighters from Telangana like Komaram Bheem, Turrebaaz Khan and poets, writers from Telangana are to get due importance. Prior to this, only the names of Andhra personalities were taught. For example, Potti Sreeramulu, the Father of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh has nothing to do with Telangana.

Potti Sreeramulu fought for separate state from Madras Presidency. So, Telangana books would focus on 1969 Telangana agitation, 2009 movements and Professor Jayashankar sir,’ a senior official from TSCHE commented.
