Tiruchanoor,Nov 20: As part of the Tiruchanoor Karthika Brahmotsavam,Goddess Padmavathi Devi’s Rathotsavam was carried on with ritual fervour on the eighth day of the annual fete on Friday.The idol of Goddess Padmavathi Devi was taken in a glittering chariot procession in the four mada streets surrounding the temple.The golden chariot built with 23 kg of gold and 1,050 kg of copper costs Rs 3 crore.
Earlier in the day,the deity's idol will be taken on ‘Sarva Bhoopala Vahanam’,which represented elemental gods like Indra,Agni,Varuna and Vayu etc. A procession of the Goddess on a horse-shaped chariot will be taken in a colourful procession as per rituals in the evening.Meanwhile,Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman D K Adikesavulu and Executive Officer I V R Krishna Rao supervised the arrangements at Padma Sarovaram,ahead of Panchami Theertham,conducted on the final day of the Brahmotsavams.
