Vijayawada,Nov 13: Even the Brindavan colony episode, in which the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) drew flak from all quarters for entrusting the crores of rupees of its valuable land to the private parties at a throwaway price for constructing apartments is still in the memory of denizens,it is gearing up to hand over the land at prime locations on either of the Bandar Road to the private parties on public private partnership (PPP).The VMC is so exuberant over this matter that even before the committee submitted its report on eco theme parks, the VMC officials are showing keen interest to entrust the parks to the private parties from the backdoor.
Without taking the council into consideration, the officials seem to have decided to give Raghavaiah-Ambedkar parks located in prime locations on either side of Bandar Road to the private parties. The committee set up by the council to study the feasibility of the project is yet to give its report, the officials with the tacit support of ruling Congress party made up their mind to give the valuable parks to the private parties. Not taking into consideration the council’s advise, the officials invited tenders for the same and four companies Business Developers from Mogularajapuram in the city,Vaibhav Empire Private Limted from Vizaq,Tirumala Tirurpati Infrateck Ltd and ABN Infrastructure form Hyderabad participated in the bid.
The VMC wrote a letter to the Government Consultant APITCO to select one from among them.It is learnt that the corporation is in favour of ABN Infrastructure and it may get formal nod from the APITCO which is scheduled to visit the city in a day or two.The ruling party corporators are silent over the issue and learnt to have urged the officials to wait till they go through the `deal.'
