Visakhapatnam, Nov 4: By and large the first day of the two-day bundh by the Maoists in the Andhra-Orissa-Border(AOB ) area passed off peacefully without any bloodshed or killings. On Wednesday, the traders in the AOB area brought down their shutters and the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation did not ply any services in view of the bundh. No major incidents of violence have been reported. Both the police and the Maoists have been very cautious in their approach.
The Maoists who are eagerly waiting for an opportunity to have a go at the police are planning for surprise attacks. In a bid to maintain their supremacy in the AOB area the Maoists are sparing no effort to make the bundh a success. On the highway between Gudem mandalam and Lankapakala the Maoists dug deep pits to create craters which can be filled with mines and explosives thus setting a trap for the police. The Maoists seem determined to make their presence felt in a violent way.The police personnel were kept on high alert and were more confined to the station areas and kept a strict vigil. The only incident that came to light on Tuesday night was the blowing up of the Government Rest House in Chitrkonda in the AOB area.
