Khammam, Nov. 4: Soon the roads in the agency area of Khammam will be developed and the commuters in the remote places of Khammam district will have easy accessibility to the near by towns either for medical care or for business purpose. This was disclosed by the Mnister for Roads and buildings g Aruna here on Wednesday.The minister who came here to lay the foundation stone for road works in Bhadrachalalm said that the Central Government had already released Rs. 176.73 crore from Central reserve fund to lay the roads in the agency area of Khammam district.
Interacting with the media on this occasion she said that the state government had also urged the Union Government to take up five roads as national high ways in the state.Referring to the bad state of roads at the moment she said because of recent rains 4, 377 km length of roads in various districts have been badly damaged. The estimated damage to the roads has been put at Rs 1, 372 crores. For immediate repairs of roads the state has sanctioned only Rs 150 crores.The state is pressing the Centre for the release of Rs 800 crore for the laying of new roads which were damaged by rain. Soon a delegation from the state will meet prime Minister Manmohan Singh to appraise him the situation of roads in Hyderabad.``We will develop rural roads in the state and Nabard has already released Rs. 150 crore for it” she said.
