Vishakapatnam,Nov 3: The Maosists on Tuesday blew up the Government check post in Kakarapadu of Koyuuru mandal in Vishakapatnam district.The Maoists tied the hands of the chec kpost officials and kept a checkon them while executing the blowing up operations.The Maoists then turned to the roads and blocked the roads in Kakarapadu junction with logs of trees and disrupted the traffic. Kakarapadu is key junction in the agency area. As a result the vehicular traffic between Narisipatnam and Koyuuru, and between Paderu and chintapalli was disrupted.
Resenting the Operation Abuzmad,and the Operation Godavari launched by the Government to flush out the Maoists are out to intensify their action in the tribal areas. To this effect the Maoists gave a call for bundh on November 4 and 5 in the agency area.With the Maoists calling for a bundh on Wednesday and Thursday, the villagers and the tribals in the agency area under the grip of fear.In their bid to make their presence felt in the agency area of Visakhapatnam the Maoists are felling the trees and blocking the roads, setting up banners and distributing pamphlets. Even the local police are afraid to reach the troubled spot and set things right.
With both the police and the Maoists drawing the battle lines for the two-day bandh in the next two days,a tense situationis prevailing in the agency areas now.The Moaists in their bid to make the two-day bandh a successful one, raised slogans saying that the government is plundering the forest wealth and only the wll to do industrialists are being benefited from it. They denounced the injustice meted out to the Girijans by denying them of their due from the local forests.They sought the support of the locals in making the bandh a success. In view of this two day bandh even the SPs meeting of the Maoists infested districts scheduled for Wednesday had been called off.
