Hyderabad, Oct 26: A small crack of two inches wide has been detected at the Keesara bridge near Nandigama on Monday, consequently the traffic between Hyderabad and Vijayawada was diverted via the old bridge causing much inconvenience to the bus commuters between the Coastal commercial city of Vijayawada and the state capital. The bridge across the rivulet Munneru at Keesara in Krishna district is situated on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad stretch of the national highway numbernine.
Over time, the stresses on a bridge caused by traffic, weather, and construction resulted in the formation of tiny cracks in the steel and concrete structures of bridges.Exposure to wind, rain, and other elements can cause corrosion that can become a structural concern as well. So the technical engineers as a precautionary measure diverted the traffic via the old bridge.
